A working chandlery, stocked for Queensland conditions

Gear on a boat gets used hard, so everything we carry has to earn its place. Our anchoring and mooring range covers anchors, chain, rope, winches and snubbers for everything from a trailer boat on Moreton Bay to a cruising yacht heading north for the season. Boat covers and biminis are made for Queensland sun and summer storms, and we will talk through fit and fabric before you order rather than after. When something lets go mid-season, boat parts and hardware, pumps and plumbing and electrical and lighting cover most of what fails on a weekend away.

Engines, steering and the systems behind them

Our engine and steering range runs from control cables, hydraulic helms and trim tabs through to filters, impellers and the service parts worth carrying as spares. We stock Vetus, Mastervolt, RWB Marine and Rule, so if you are matching a part to an existing system you are usually matching it to a brand we already know. If you are not certain which model you have, send us a photo of the plate and we will work it out with you.

Sailing, safety and crew gear

For sailors we carry running rigging, blocks, cleats and hardware, including Ronstan. Our safety range covers lifejackets, flares, EPIRBs and the items required to meet Queensland and NSW carriage rules, and we can help you check a boat against the list before an inspection. Crew clothing and footwear from Musto and other marine brands handles wet decks and long days offshore. Inflatables and tenders and general boat accessories round out the range.

Antifouling, paint and keeping a boat presentable

A boat kept in Gold Coast water grows a beard quickly, so antifoul, primers, sealants and cleaning products are a standing item rather than a once-a-year purchase. We carry Jotun and the fillers, tapes and abrasives that go with a proper job, and we can talk you through what suits your hull material and how long you have between lifts. If you are preparing a boat for sale or for a long trip, come in with your list and we will work out what you actually need.

Buying and selling a boat on the Gold Coast

Alongside the chandlery we run a full brokerage from the marina at Southport Yacht Club. Our boats for sale listings take in sail and power, trailer boats through to flybridge cruisers and offshore yachts. Selling through a broker who works on the water every day means your boat is presented properly, priced against what is actually selling, and shown to buyers who are ready to move. We handle the paperwork, the survey process and the sea trial, and we will tell you plainly if we think a boat is overpriced or if a few small jobs before listing would pay for themselves.

Advice from people who use this gear

Bosun's Locker has been on the Gold Coast since 1975, which makes it the oldest established boat sales and boat gear business in the region. The team are boat owners, sailors and tradespeople, and the advice you get across the counter or over the phone comes from fitting this equipment, not from reading the box. Come and see us at Southport Yacht Club, or call if you would rather talk it through before ordering.

Delivered across Australia

Online orders ship Australia-wide from our Gold Coast store, so boat owners in Brisbane, the Sunshine Coast, the Tweed and further afield get the same range and the same advice as walk-in customers. New stock lands regularly, and the easiest way to keep an eye on it is our new arrivals page.
