    What size fenders do I need for my boat?

    Fender size depends on boat length and weight. Boats up to 7 metres typically use 150mm diameter fenders, 7-10 metre boats need 200mm fenders, and vessels over 10 metres require 250mm or larger. Gold Coast boaters should also consider freeboard height and choose fender length that covers vulnerable hull areas when properly deployed.

    How many fenders should I carry on my boat?

    Carry at least four fenders for side-tie docking throughout Brisbane and SE Queensland, with six recommended for boats over 10 metres or rafting situations. Add specialized corner fenders for stern-to mooring and a fender board for pile protection. More fenders provide better protection when docking in tidal areas or rough conditions.

    Should I use fender covers on my boat fenders?

    Fender covers protect fenders from UV damage, reduce squeaking against gel coat, and keep fenders clean on the Tweed Coast. Covers extend fender life significantly and prevent black scuff marks on your hull. Choose acrylic covers for durability or fleece for maximum hull protection, especially on white or light-coloured gel coat finishes.

    What's the difference between fender lines and regular rope?

    Fender lines are specifically designed for fender attachment with pre-spliced eye loops that won't slip through fender eyes. They're sized appropriately for adjusting fender height at various docks across the Gold Coast. Regular rope can work but requires proper knots and may slip. Pre-spliced fender lines save time and provide more reliable deployment.
