Inflatables - Buoys, Boat Fenders & More
Inflatable fenders, float buoys and tender gear take the knocks so your hull does not. Our range covers teardrop and cylindrical fenders, mooring and float buoys, inflatable boat covers and the davit hardware for hanging a tender off the transom.
Fenders, buoys and tender hardware
Fenders are the cheapest insurance on a boat. Inflatable Teardrop Fenders sit flat against a hull and are less inclined to roll out of position than a cylindrical fender when you come alongside at an angle. For marking a mooring or a pot, Inflatable Float Buoys and Inflatable Teardrop Float Buoys give visible flotation that packs away flat. If you tow or carry a tender, the Relaxn Inflatable Dinghy Snap Davit Kit lets you lift and secure it single-handed, and an Oceansouth Inflatable Boat Cover keeps ultraviolet off the tubes, which is what ages a PVC or Hypalon tender fastest in Queensland.
How many fenders does a boat need, and what size?
The working rule most skippers use is one fender per three metres of hull length with a minimum of three, and a diameter that keeps the widest part of the hull clear of the dock at any state of tide. Under-sizing is the common mistake: a fender that is too small compresses fully under load and the hull touches anyway. Hang them from a rail or cleat at a height that suits the pontoon rather than the deck, and carry at least one spare for rafting up.
