Ross 930 Racer Cruiser - "Solace" - SOLD!
Description
SOLD SOLD SOLD
The Ross 930 has earned a strong reputation as a lightweight, performance-focused cruiser-racer. Designed by New Zealand naval architect Murray Ross, the hull form combines a fine entry for efficient upwind work with a broad, flat stern that delivers excellent control and speed off the wind. With a responsive fractional rig, generous sail plan, and well-balanced helm, she offers rewarding sailing whether racing or enjoying fast coastal passages.
This 1982-built Ross 930 has been stripped out below, presenting a blank canvas for a buyer to refit and personalise. She is well set up where it counts, with standing rigging replaced in 2021, a solid sail inventory including dacron main and headsail with multiple spinnakers, and a Nanni 10HP inboard diesel with shaft drive and folding prop. Raymarine electronics are fitted, offering a practical and functional sailing package ready to go.
Recently slipped and antifouled in January 2026, with a current survey confirming the vessel retains sound structural integrity. Minor osmosis blistering, some moisture in sections of the balsa-cored deck, and damp in areas of the bulkheads are noted, with recommended works largely cosmetic and interior-focused. Importantly, the major items are in good order, making this a genuine opportunity to secure a proven performance hull at an accessible price point — sail now and improve over time.
Owner motivated to sell quickly — inspection and immediate handover available. Currently berthed at Southport Yacht Club, with berth potentially available subject to club approval.
