Description

The VETUS HT1018 hydraulic power steering pump reduces helm effort to approximately 10% of a non-powered system — the boat can be steered with minimal force, allowing a smaller steering wheel diameter (typically Ø 360 mm). Should power assistance fail, the system continues to operate unassisted with greater effort, ensuring safe steering at all times.

The pump unit acts as a rotating proportional valve: turning the wheel opens the control valve and directs pressurised oil to the steering cylinder. Oil flow is proportional to the pump model, number of wheel revolutions, and turning speed. A closed mid-position ensures no oil flow when the wheel is stationary.

To connect one or more VETUS steering pumps and/or an autopilot to a VETUS hydraulic system, control unit HT1019 is required. This pump is designed for the VETUS Power Hydraulics programme, based on the constant pressure (load sensing) principle.
