Description

Sacrificial anode protection is essential for all metal parts below the waterline. Vetus rudder anodes are available in zinc and aluminium alloy, suitable for wooden, fibreglass, aluminium, and steel hulls.

Vetus zinc anodes meet U.S. Mil-A-18001K specifications — the highest possible standard. Anodes that do not meet this specification offer little or no protection. Vetus aluminium anodes are manufactured from an aluminium-indium-zinc alloy to Mil-A-24779(SH) specification.

All anodes are streamlined and mount via studs (for welding to steel hulls) or through-hull bolts (for fibreglass and wooden boats). Studs and bolts are supplied separately.

Choosing the Right Anode Material

For vessels primarily used in fresh water, aluminium anodes are recommended — aluminium has a greater electrochemical potential difference with other metals, which is important given freshwater's higher electrical resistance. For salt or brackish water, zinc anodes are suitable; aluminium also works in saltwater but is consumed more rapidly. Magnesium anodes are not recommended, as the excessive potential difference can damage hull paint, particularly in brackish or salt water.

Returns policy

We have a 30-day return policy, which means you have 30 days after receiving your item to request a return.

To be eligible for a return, your item must be in the same condition that you received it, unworn or unused, with tags, and in its original packaging. You’ll also need the receipt or proof of purchase.
